OPM Director Resigns Unexpectedly
Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Dale Cabaniss unexpectedly resigned on March 17, 2020. She was confirmed to the position in September 2019. FMA National President Renee Johnson met with Cabaniss and had a good working relationship with her and her office. Michael Rigas, OPM’s deputy director for the past two years, will serve as Acting Director. Rigas was also tapped to serve concurrently as Acting Deputy Director for Management at the Office of Management and Budget.

Rigas has served twice as an appointee at the General Services Administration (GSA), most recently as Senior Advisor and previously as Associate Administrator. His other experience includes service as Chief of Staff at The Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services and at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. He holds an M.A. in public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a B.A. and M.A. in economics from Boston University.
