Lawmaker Pushes for 5.3 Percent Pay Raise

Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) will introduce legislation, the Federal Adjustment of Incomes Rate (FAIR) Act, which would provide a 5.3 percent pay raise across the board to federal employees. FMA supports Connolly's efforts and has endorsed his legislation. He introduced similar legislation last year, calling for a 3.8 percent pay raise. President Obama called for a 1.6 percent pay raise in the 2017 budget request he released on February 9.
