"FMA commends Congress for acting to prevent the incapacitation of our military, and the accompanying threats to our national security. While FMA is a nonpartisan organization, it recognizes the hesitance many legislators must feel in overriding a president’s veto. The Representatives and Senators who chose not to allow personal politics to irreparably harm this key national interest deserve recognition for their decision. Partisan squabbles should never be allowed to compromise our core interests as a nation.
“The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is far too important to be put in jeopardy over minor differences. FMA praises the House and the Senate for putting these issues to the side in the name of preserving our national security.
“FMA will work with Congress and the incoming administration to endeavor to bring a return to regular order, with bipartisan NDAA’s passed on time without threats of veto. It is a credit to Congress that it chose to act as the coequal branch of government that it is in order to carry out this critical necessity of government.”
