• FMA ANNOUNCES DELEGATE ELEANOR HOLMES NORTON AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER - FEBRUARY 27, 2013

• During the Federal Managers Association's 75th annual National Convention and Management Training Seminar, U.S. House of Representatives Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) will provide a keynote address on Monday, March 4, at 8:15 am.

   

  Delegate Norton just began her twelfth term in the House of Representatives, where she serves as the Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Economic Development. Additionally, she has a seat on the Oversight and Government Reform, and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committees.

   

  Prior to her time in the House, then-President James Carter appointed Ms.Norton as the first woman to chair the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Additonally, she was a tenured law professor at Georgetown Law School, and served as an assistant legal director to the American Civli Liberties Union. During her time as an attorney, she fought for the freedom of speech and strongly defended the First Amendment. A native Washingtonian, she received a B.A. from Antioch College in 1960, and an M.A. and LL.B. from Yale University in 1963 and 1964.
