  • FMA'S STANFORD DISCUSSES THE STOP GOVERNMENT ABUSE ACT - AUGUST 2, 2013
  • On August 2, 2013, In Depth with Francis Rose hosted Federal Managers Association (FMA) Director of Government Affairs Greg Stanford to discuss the Stop Government Abuse Act (H.R. 2879), which passed the House of Representatives on August 1 by a vote of 239-176.

While the legislation is not expected to advance through the U.S. Senate, it instills a sense of distrust in all federal government employees, hurts morale, and undermines the congressionally-mandated missions and goals of federal departments and agencies. The legislation is particularly troubling given the fact there are only nine legislative days scheduled in the current fiscal year. FMA believes Congress should be focused constructively on the many critical issues facing the country, including passing appropriations bills to fund the government in FY14 and ending sequestration and furloughs.
