FMA Washington Report: October 13, 2021
FMA Regions 3 & 4 Convention

Representatives from the FMA National Office Adam Kay and Greg Stanford, as well as FMA National President Craig Carter, attended the FMA Regions 3 & 4 Convention in Vacaville, California. FMA members representing chapters from Indiana to Hawaii, and from Texas to Alaska, were in attendance.

Vince Stamper of FMA Chapter 14 led attendees in a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis on the future of FMA. The consensus was that, while FMA is challenged by the general atmosphere facing membership associations, we have a great many advantages and assets at our disposal in our mission to advocate for federal employees. Vince also led the group in a Power Hour exercise on addressing membership challenges.

Greg Stanford gave a presentation on FMA’s advocacy efforts. Adam Kay presented on potential recruitment drives and structural changes, as well as changes that could be made to help boost revenue from corporate partners and website monetization. Special thanks to FMA President Emeritus Pat Niehaus and all of FMA Chapter 167 (Travis Air Force Base) for being fantastic hosts! FMA members were treated to a flight line tour and had an opportunity to board a C-17, a C-5, and a KC-10. Many thanks to Chapter 167’s Dale Patterson and the other extraordinary members of Chapter 167 who made this possible.

We greatly enjoyed the Regions 3 & 4 Convention, and hope to see a great many of you at our National Convention in March.
