Legislative Outreach Agency Outreach FMA Working For You! | FMA Washington Report: April 11, 2025 FMA’s 87th National Convention and Management Training Seminar FMA members gathered in Alexandria, Virginia, for the association’s 87th National Convention & Management Training Seminar March 23-26, 2025. This year’s event included an open house of FMA’s National Office, steps away from the hotel. FMA National President Craig Carter gaveled in the convention and provided opening remarks. Members then heard from keynote presenter Tom Temin, a longtime friend of FMA and Host of The Federal Drive with Tom Temin on Federal News Network. Members then heard reports from national officers and Director of Government & Public Affairs Greg Stanford and held elections for National Vice President and National Treasurer. Christine Parker (Chapter 121, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia) was elected to a two-year term as National Vice President, while Linda Lentjes (Chapter 396, Mayport Naval Station, Florida) was elected Treasurer. Chapters then met with other chapters within their Regions to discuss region business and network. Day Two saw impressive training sessions led by FMA’s own William “Nomana” Angelo, Code 901A Production Resources Maintenance Support Superintendent, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Facility (Chapter 19), Adam Henckler, Superintendent of Production Engineering & Facilities, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (Chapter 6), as well as Tim Winchell, President of Job Analytics, LLC, and a contributor to The Federal Manager magazine. At the annual awards luncheon sponsored by GPIS Employee Benefits Specialist, NARFE, and WAEPA, membership recruitment awards were given out to those who have helped build the ranks of FMA. Recruitment winners were: Super Recruiter Jeris Smith, Chapter 3, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Virginia; Small Chapter: Mike Beedle, Chapter 375, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Chicago – moving his chapter from the Small Chapter category to the Medium Chapter Category; Medium Chapter: Savanna Massey, Chapter 11, Fleet Readiness Center – Southeast, Jacksonville, Florida; and, Large Chapter: John Charalabidis, Chapter 208, Defense Logistics Agency – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Outgoing Region 4 Director Vince Stamper, Transformation Program Manager, Trident Refit Facility Bangor (Chapter 14), was presented the Manager of the Year award. Varney Range, President of Chapter 19 (Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard) received the Gil Guidry Award for outstanding chapter president. Chapter 208 (Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Philadelphia, PA) received the President’s Award for outstanding chapter, and newly elected National Vice President Christine Parker received the Odell Green Award for an outstanding Executive Board member. On Wednesday, FMA members headed to Capitol Hill for FMA’s annual Day on the Hill, where members walked the halls of Congress and provided FMA’s Issue Briefs to Members of Congress and their staff. Members reported a rewarding and fulfilling experience advocating for FMA priorities and for their agencies and installations. The event closed that night following a lively reception.
