  • It's official: retirees will not receive a COLA in 2016

    Cost-of-living-adjustments (COLAs) are calculated by comparing the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) of the current year to the third quarter of the last time a COLA was effective, i.e. January of 2014 and 2015. Because the CPI-W for the third quarter of 2015 is less than the third quarter of 2014, there will not be a COLA for 2016.
