  • Senior Execs to Congress: Making Us At-Will Employees Will 'Destroy' Us

    A recent survey conducted by the Senior Executives Association (SEA) reveals dire concerns about the negative impact congressional action could have on the top management in the federal government. Making senior execs "at-will" employees would essentially return the government to a patronage system and harm morale, recruitment and retention, causing a ripple effect that would directly impact General Schedule employees. While legislation has not been introduced in Congress, “The idea [of at-will employment] is still out there, even if there hasn’t been legislation,” said Jenny Mattingley, SEA's legislative director.
