'Modest' raise in Obama's proposed budget doesn't satisfy workforce

Republican lawmakers have recently introduced legislation calling for the extension of the federal pay freeze as well as greater employee contributions to the federal pension system. President Obama's FY13 budget proposal, however, is not significantly better for federal employees. While the President is calling for a 0.5 percent pay raise, employee pension contributions would rise by 1.2 percent over three years. “The end result of these proposals is essentially another year of the federal pay freeze,” the Federal Managers Association commented on the budget proposal.
