She added, "As a finalist for Manager of the Year last year, and the winner this year, he demonstrates consistent and steady leadership, garnering respect from his superiors, peers, and subordinates. FMA is grateful for all that Mr. Kent does, and I am proud to announce him as FMA's 2016 Federal Manager of the Year."
The FMA Manager of the Year award is presented annually to an outstanding manager or supervisor in the federal government who is a member of the Federal Managers Association. Chapters may nominate one member to their respective Region Director, and that officer submits the name of the nominee and supporting documentation for consideration of the award. The selection committee reviews three categories in determining the winner:
- Workplace accomplishments/contributions
- FMA involvement at the chapter, region or national level
- Local community accomplishments/contributions
The other finalist for the 2016 FMA Manager of the Year award considered by the selection committee was:
- Ms. Vickie Jolley - FMA Chapter 21, Fleet Readiness Center East, Cherry Point, North Carolina
Johnson concluded, "I am gratified by the tremendous leadership acumen shown by all members of FMA, which we saw on display at this year's national convention. In these complex and uncertain times, it should give us all a measure of comfort that FMA, and the federal government as a whole, is represented by Manager of the Year Alan Kent and other managers like him."
