Oversight Chairman Promises Sweeping Changes to Feds’ Retirement, Job Security

The congressman who leads oversight of the federal workforce promised on Monday to bring sweeping reforms to federal employees’ retirement benefits, job security and even the location of their offices.
Having a Republican in the White House will allow Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, to focus more on the “reform” part of his job description, he said on Monday. While he promised to hold the Donald Trump administration accountable, the top of his agenda will focus on legislative changes such as eliminating defined-benefit pensions for new federal employees and making it easier for agencies to dismiss employees accused of sexual misconduct.
