- FMA-ENDORSED LEGISLATION READY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA'S SIGNATURE - September 28, 2016
FMA is proud to announce the Federal Aviation Administration Veteran Transition Improvement Act of 2016 (S. 2683), which extends disabled veteran leave to federal employees at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has passed both the House and Senate, and now heads to President Obama for his signature into law. S. 2683, sponsored by Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Deb Fischer (R-NE), builds on the Wounded Warriors Federal Leave Act (P.L. 114-75) which created this new leave category. The original law, championed by Reps. Stephen Lynch (D-MA), Blake Farenthold (R-TX) and Sens. Jon Tester (D-MT) and Jerry Moran (R-KS), applies to Title V employees.
FMA is grateful for Sens. Hirono and Fischer, as well as Reps. Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) who sponsored companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
