- FMA SEES MOVEMENT ON EXPANSION OF DISABLED VETERAN LEAVE - September 16, 2016
As noted last week, the Federal Managers Association (FMA) continues its work to provide disabled veteran leave to non-Title V federal employees who are otherwise eligible. FMA-endorsed legislation (S. 2683 / H.R. 5957) to provide this leave to employees of the Federal Aviation Administration has gained strong support and we are optimistic legislation will be approved by the 114th Congress. H.R. 5957, sponsored by Reps. Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) easily passed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. S. 2683, sponsored by Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Deb Fischer (R-NE), and cosponsored by Sens. Jon Tester (D-MT) and Jerry Moran (R-KS), may receive expedited consideration by the full Senate.
FMA sent letters of support for both S. 2683 and H.R. 5957 to leadership of the committees of jurisdiction in both the House and the Senate.
