Limits on Feds' Bonuses and Leave Included in Senate’s New Government Reform Package
By Eric Katz, Government Executive
Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, announced plans to combine fifteen government reform bills the committee has approved into one large package, which has assurances to be considered by the full Senate. The package will include the Administrative Leave Act (S. 2450), sponsored by Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and Charles Grassley (R-IA), which FMA strongly supports. Other measures included in the package would impact bonuses for feds engaged in misconduct,"empower inspectors general, target already identified areas of duplication for cuts and expand whistleblower protections for both federal employees and contractors."
HSGAC Ranking Member Tom Carper (D-DE) said he was "very much interested" in the large legislative vehicle, but did not commit to supporting all of the measures it will include.
