- HOUSE PASSES FMA'S WOUNDED WARRIORS INITIATIVE - September 28, 2015
On September 28, the full House of Representatives passed the Wounded Warriors Federal Leave Act (H.R. 313) by unanimous consent. This follows the Senate's action in July, which approved companion legislation (S. 242) introduced by Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and Jerry Moran (R-KS), also by unanimous consent. The Wounded Warriors Federal Leave Act would provide 104 hours of sick leave up front to first year federal employees who qualify under the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as thirty percent or more disabled due to a service-related disability. FMA is grateful for the leadership of Representatives Stephen Lynch (D-MA) and Blake Farenthold (R-TX), and the support of every Member of Congress on this common-sense reform. We will work with Senate and House members and their staff to present language to President Obama.
