All federal workers, not just breach victims, could get credit monitoring
By Dena Levitz, Federal News Radio
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is considering offering all federal employees credit monitoring in the future. FMA continues to be vocal in its call for lifetime protection, and is proud to have asked for, and to support legislation offered last week,The Reducing the Effects of the Cyberattack on OPM Victims Emergency Response (RECOVER) Act, S. 1746, which would provide lifetime coverage against identity theft and no less than $5 million of identity theft insurance.
Federal News Radio quotes FMA Director of Government Affairs, stating, “FMA has called for lifetime protection, because this information isn’t going to go away in 18 months. It’s not going to go away in three years. We’ve called for lifetime protection and credit monitoring for the individuals who are affected. We think that that is what the situation calls for.”
