Nearly 1 million feds will soon be notified of their right to join shutdown lawsuit
By Eric Katz, Government Executive
Federal employees are still recovering from the federal shutdown last October as they were forced out of their jobs and did not receive a paycheck for two weeks. In August, a federal judge stated federal labor laws were violated with the suspension of payment. The law firm of Mehri & Skalet, who represents the collective-action case argue failure of payment left federal employees unable to pay bills. Federal employees will be notified in early 2015 if they can join the case as a plaintiff.
