• OPM ISSUES GUIDANCE ON PHASED RETIREMENT - August 7, 2014

• Phased retirement is finally here

  On Thursday, August 7, the Office of Personnel Management issued regulations for phased retirement. Two years ago, Congress and the President agreed to providing phased retirement, allowing retirement-eligible federal employees to work part time, receiving part of their annuity. New provisions lay out how federal agencies will implement phased retirement. According to OPM, those participating in the program will be considered as part-time employees in regards to their leave and pay, however it will not impact their health care.
