  • Final Rule Codifies a 1996 Law

    The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), which administers the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), issued a final rule allowing the agency to compel private-sector employers to deduct from an employee's paycheck to cover debts owed. The rule requires 30 days' notice prior to arranging for paycheck deductions. Employees can set up a payment plan or ask for a hearing to question the debt.
