- Senate rejects bill with pay freeze extension

On Thursday night, the Senate rejected a bill that would extend the federal pay freeze three more years and reduce the federal workforce by ten percent. The bill, the Temporary Tax Holiday and Government Reduction Act (S. 1931) was introduced and voted in just under a two day period. During this time, the Federal Managers Association (FMA), as a part of the Government Managers Coalition (GMC), sent a letter to Senators expressing disappointment with the legislation.
"Federal employees should not have to play a disproportionate role in deficit reduction simply because Congress has failed to rein in spending over the last decade," the letter stated.
