  • FMA National President Patricia Niehaus Comments on Proposed Flexible Spending Account Reform

    Alexandria, VA - The Federal Managers Association (FMA) National President, Patricia Niehaus, wrote to the Department of Treasury on August 17, 2012, regarding changes proposed to flexible spending accounts.

    Earlier this year, the U.S. Treasury Department asked for comment on whether to eliminate a provision that requires employees spend all of the money set aside in a flexible spending accounts within the calendar year, while leftover money is forfeited. Known as “use it or lose it,” the Treasury Department is examining this provision and solicited comments from the public. FMA National President Patricia Niehaus submitted comments to Treasury in favor of eliminating the use it or lose it provision.
